Near Shore Fishing Trips

Near Shore Fishing trips and charters include waters from the surf line out to approximately 5 miles off of Saint Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Sea Island, and Cumberland Island Georgia. These waters are rich in nutrients and bait fish and are home to a host of different species throughout the various seasons here in Coastal Georgia. From sight casting tripletail with bait or a fly rod in the spring and summer months, to battling giant tarpon and sharks, to bull red drum fishing in the fall, there is a near shore trip perfect for any angler.

We offer beach trout fishing charters in the summer months down around Cumberland Islands famous Christmas Creek. While the main target is speckled trout with trophy trout quite common, you will often encounter jacks, ladyfish, and various other species as well. From April throughout the summer, tripletail invade the waters around Jekyll Island, and provide a fun sight casting challenge to any angler. These fish are spotted first and then cast to, and are a great target for the fly fishermen as well as a bait angler.

Shark fishing is always a popular activity for Saint Simons Island fishing charters, and we can target these fish for the size that you prefer. Sharks from 3-10 feet are caught regularly for much of the year on our near shore fishing charters with bait, artificials, or flyrod. The big bruiser Blacktips and high flying Spinner Sharks are commonly caught just behind our local shrimp trawlers just a few miles offshore. Hammerheads, bulls, lemons, sharp nose, bonnetheads, and brown nose are just a few of the species that we often see.

In July, August, and September it is time to tangle with the “Silver King.” The powerful, high flying tarpon is one of the most sought after gamefish in the world, and we have an excellent fishery for them here in Coastal Georgia. Our Tarpon fishing charters are one of the more popular trips provided in the summer months and they truly offer our customers a chance to land the fish of a lifetime. Fly fishing and traditional bait fishing trips are available.

Another popular fishing trip takes place primarily in the fall months, but spring time can be good as well. Bull Redfish swarm the inlets and sandbars throughout Coastal Georgia including Sea Island, Cumberland, Jekyll, and St. Simons Island. These giant reds can be as large as 50 pounds and are caught fishing near these various sandbars and channels throughout different stages of the tide. There are many options for near shore fishing here in Coastal Georgia with fish in all shapes and sizes. Call us to discuss the best trip for you.
