St Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Sea Island Summer Fishing Report 2023 is all about hot weather and a hot bit!!
It’s officially summer and it’s hot out. In this St. Simons Island Summer Fishing Report we talk shop for a few min. We are constantly reminding clients to stay hydrated and our clients are reminding us to do the same. The heat finally showed up about two weeks ago and water temperature rose rapidly into the low to mid 80s. Large schools of bait fish showed up bringing with them the predators that we seek to catch all summer long which include tarpon, jacks, shark, and more.
Hot bite!
The bite has been exceptionally good in the Ocean and large schools of jacks and tarpon have been consistent and ready to take a fly or artificial lure. Jack have averaged 20-30lb while tarpon are in the 60-150lb range. We have had some craze topwater action with the jacks and that’s about as good of a time as you can have around St. Simons and Jekyll Island.
Tarpon have been all over and ready top eat a DOA or fly.
