Cool Weather Reds with the Kids!!! Trout too. St. Simons Island Fishing Charters

Scott Owens Georgia Fishing Reports

What a great way to finish off the year! The last week I have been busy fishing with families from all over the country while they enjoyed their holiday vacations. Lucky for us the fish have not been on vacation. Winter is hear and the strategies and techniques I have been using have changed but, the fishing is still very good. A little run to find some clean water has paid off big. Keith and his twin boys joined me on Wednesday as mother nature put me to test. Huge flood tides caused by the full moon and north winds blowing 20 knots made inland waters rough and waters dirty. I headed south about 45 min. to a winter time drop that I hoped would not only produce fish but not have another boat on it. About 2 miles from the spot the water started to clean up and I got excited. As we approached the drop I could hear people talking and my excitement faded fast but, as I turned the corner I noticed some guys sheepshead fishing under the docks. I got the boat stopped and we started casting white Fish Bites paddle tails and started catching fish immediately. We ended up catching over 70 trout some in the 20 inch range out of a spot the size of a small swimming pool. Keith asked how I know to come to this spot and I simply replied its the experience you get when hiring a full time guide. Kieth has been fishing with me for 6 years and I continue to enjoy everyday possibly as much as he does.

I invite you to come and join me for a memorable day on the water. Lets start off 2010 with burning drags and smiling faces.

Until Next Time
Capt. Scott
