Things are Warming Up Here on the Georgia Coast!!!

Scott Owens Georgia Fishing Reports

As the title say’s fishing has been steadily getting better. Warmer weather has water temperatures on the rise and I have seen several trout cruising the flats around pods of redfish over the past few days. Water quality has also improved now that the 3 rivers that meet the ocean here in the Golden Isles have fallen below their flood stages. The water was clear enough over the past 3 days to see bottom in 3 or 4 feet of water at low tide and when the sun blessed us we were able to see schools of fish cruising at 100 feet! Tuesday I fished a flat to the north that we easily saw over 80 fish on mostly in two’s, and three’s that gave us lots of shots. This flat is one I can only fish when the winds are light (5 or less) and the fish do not shy away from the boat until you are on top of them.

I also had the pleasure of sharing my favorite sport (fly fishing) with a good client of mines twin boys (15) With a day of practice and some patience both landed their first fish on fly the second day. Both were great fish one over 10 pounds. They are now hooked and I hope to see them more often. Their dad has been fishing with me for many years and I think he was more excited to see his boys catch their first fish on fly than they were! Give me a call and lets go catch some fish!

Tight Lines and remember if your going to hire a guide make sure he is a full time guide.
