Holiday Inshore Fishing Update St. Simons Island

Scott Owens Georgia Fishing Reports

Holiday inshore fishing

The inshore bite the past couple of weeks has been very strong if not insane at times.  We have had a couple of days in which we had to work to find a good bite but ended up hammering them more often then not.  Speckled trout are stacked up with loads of similar sized fish wherever you find them.  Quality trout are eager to scarf down a live shrimp or artificial lure.

Redfish are prowling the shallows on calm days and provided it is not an absurdly high pressure day, have been eager to eat a well placed fly or lure.  The best shallow water redfishing of the year is coming up through the next 3 months and we can expect big fish in very shallow clearrrrr water!  I can’t wait!

There are also a good bit of redfish hanging on shell points and drop offs for some fast and fun action provided the meat hunters don’t wipe out the entire school.  Black DrumFlounder, and sheepshead are adding a nice variety inshore as well.

Bull Reds are still an option and will be for a couple of months.  These days it just requires a change of tactics and a short run offshore.  Now is a great time to jig these fish up on artificial lures.

There is plenty of good fishing still going on in Coastal Georgia, and will remain that way for some time, so give us a call and lets go catching!  -Capt. Rob
