September fishing report for the Golden Isles

Scott Owens Georgia Fishing Reports

Fall is approaching and as we roll into October you can feel just a touch of it in the early mornings.  I’m good with that though as we are still Flying tarpon, and catching the first wave of spawning bull red drum.  I had some hot action on the silver kings this past week with fish well over the 100# mark.  Bull Reds are showing up more consistently every day, while  flounder fishing has been red hot inshore with plenty of “doormats” to be had.  The bull Reds should be in their peak in October-November.

Inshore the trout are really bunching up in certain areas, with plenty of quality fish in the 15-22″ range.  Reds are having a field day in the grass with excellent tailing action on the larger tide cycles.  In addition to Flounder, we are starting to see more fun sized black drum around to round off your inshore action.  Get ready for brisk mornings and red hot inshore action coming up in the next few months. –Capt.
