Chumming is a simple and effective technique for drawing fish in to your location whether it be from a boat or a fixed structure like a dock or a pier. The chum that you use is dependent on what species you are targeting and will consist of freshly chopped or ground baitfish. If you want to use frozen chum to slowly disperse just mix the freshly ground baitfish with fish oil and add sand or oats and freeze in jugs. Toss it in a mesh chum bag and lower it into the water to start your slick. Adding chunks of baitfish will bring in the predators.
Chumming in south Georgia can be used while fishing for many different species including sharks, kingfish, tarpon, and bull reds. It can also be used bottom fishing offshore and even for inshore fishing.
