Recap with LOTS of photos of this past summer and now here comes fall
To say summer here in the Golden Isles wasn’t hot would be like saying the north pole isn’t cold but once again the fishing was just awesome!!! Trout, red drum, flounder, jacks, ladyfish, sharks, tarpon, and so much more kept me and all my great clients busy and smiling for the last several months. St. Simons, Jekyll, and Sea Island’s tourism flourished and people took to our beautiful beaches, golf courses, and waterways for fun.
Here in my world the early mornings were best. Topwater action started at 6am on most days and big redfish and trout would launch themselves out of the water for soem of the best action I have seen in years. The mullet which are food of choice for these larger fish have made a big comeback since gill nets and limits were put in place in several states. As the morning sky turned bright the fish would move to some deeper water and there you would find large concentrations of trout. The days of 80 to 100 fish are back and if the summer is an indication of how fall will be I cant wait! Enjoy the photos!
