As we bring in the new year January has brought some big surprises in the way of big redfish and very shallow water. We have had a very nice calm conditions even know the weather has been cool the fish have cooperated and the water has been extremely clear. Into days we boated over 30 redfish on fly and water less than a foot of water. The most amazing part was that only four of the fish were under 10 pounds. While angler Keith Calhoun had his hands full catching these behemoth redfish I got to enjoy beautiful weather and blue skies all while seeing Keith smile pulling on these fish. Keith was lucky enough to land to fish close to 18 pounds and many others in the 12 to 14 pound range. These conditions should continue through March so don’t wait until it warms up because you will not get these opportunities in the warmer months of summer when the water is not as clear and the fish are not as plentiful on the flats. Come visit us and fish around coastal Georgia Saint Simons Island and Jekyll Island and see what this coast has to offer . I promise it doesn’t disappoint.
